About Airports Authority of India (AAI)

The Airports Authority of India (AAI), established on April 1, 1995, is a statutory body responsible for the management of Indian airports and air traffic control in Indian airspace. AAI was formed by the merger of two earlier entities—the National Airports Authority (NAA) and the International Airports Authority of India (IAAI). Today, AAI operates over 130 airports in India, providing infrastructure for domestic and international air travel.

With a mission to create, upgrade, and manage the civil aviation infrastructure, AAI is integral to enhancing airport services, improving safety standards, and modernizing India’s airspace.

What Is the AAI Apprenticeship Program?

The Apprenticeship program by AAI offers an excellent opportunity for young engineers, diploma holders, and ITI graduates to gain hands-on training and experience in various engineering and technical fields at AAI-managed airports across North Eastern India. The apprenticeship is governed under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and provides candidates with practical training in their respective disciplines, which will enhance their employability in the aviation industry.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the AAI apprenticeship program, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Nationality: Only Indian Nationals from the North Eastern Region (NER) are eligible to apply.
  2. Educational Qualifications:
    • Graduate Apprentice: Candidates should have a full-time, regular four-year degree in Engineering in the relevant discipline (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Computer Science, etc.) recognized by AICTE.
    • Diploma Apprentice: Candidates should have a three-year regular diploma in the relevant discipline from an institute recognized by AICTE.
    • Trade Apprentice: Candidates should have completed an ITI course in the relevant trade (e.g., Fitter, Mechanic, Electrician, etc.) from a recognized institution.
  3. Age Limit: The minimum age is 18 years, and the maximum age is 26 years as of 20th November 2024. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates from reserved categories as per Government of India rules.

Application Process

The application process for the AAI apprenticeship program is completely online. Candidates must follow the steps below:

  1. Once the application is submitted successfully, candidates will receive a confirmation message stating, “Successfully applied for the training position.”
  2. The last date for submission of applications is 20th November 2024. No late applications will be accepted.

Selection Process

  1. Provisional Selection: Based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination (Degree/Diploma/ITI).
  2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via their registered email IDs for document verification and interviews.
  3. Final Selection: The final selection will be based on the interview results, document verification, and Medical Fitness Certificate (from a government medical officer) at the time of joining.
