Job Description: Cost Research Specialist – Cost & Value Engineering

The Cost research Specialist is accountable for creating a comprehensive cost information center incorporating industry representative rates and factors for India and other countries for more accurate costing.

This involves enhancing the accuracy of cost models, ensuring to offer precise and consistent estimates for product bottom up should cost calculations.

These estimates are crucial for assessing the feasibility of CAO, product development and launch, as well as for making accurate profit forecasts via CVE.

Research knowledge will be developed:

 

Internally through interaction with Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing Accounting or any other functions of repute wherever needed
Externally via supplier manufacturing process audits and cost analysis and collecting relevant data basis
Access to various indices, Supply Market Intelligence cockpit, corporate SCM intelligence teams, MMR’s
Professional (Variety of Business):

At least 6 years’ experience with min 3 years in cost estimation and analysis

 

Project / Process (Variety of Function Areas): Worked in Manufacturing or Process Industries,

Mission of CVE Function:

 

CVE Goal: Sustainable, Competitive & Profitable Products & Projects.
Delivering highest customer value at balanced cost & environmental footprint.
Responsible for generation of transparency in production processes along the value chain, related costs, and improvement potentials (CAO, Cost Analysis and Optimization) and supply chain productivity improvement measures (SPI)
Partner of Procurement, in particular PE, in negotiations, partner of R&D and System CVE in Design to Cost and Standardization (DtV)

Dimensions of Function:

Target costs, total Cost of product/supplied good, CNI, CTG and other CVE levers.
Life cycle cost and related PVO for Direct and Indirect Material categories globally.
Contacts (Internal/External):

 

CVE at HQ, CVE back-end team managing TcPCM, SCM functions, in particular PE, CM, CPO, SQM
CVE partners, in particular system CVEs and Corporate Commodity Engineers, CVE experts at HQ
Cross-functional partners, in particular Product Management, R&D, Engineering and Production
Suppliers, in particular R&D, engineering, production.
CVEs network partners across Siemens
Roles & Responsibilities:

The Cost researcher is accountable for creating a comprehensive cost information center incorporating industry representative rates and factors for India and other countries for more accurate costing.
– This involves enhancing the accuracy of cost models, ensuring to offer precise and consistent estimates for product bottom up should cost calculations.
– Maintain determined Master data in TcPCM
– These estimates are crucial for assessing the feasibility of CAO, product development and launch, as well as for making accurate profit forecasts via CVE.
Research knowledge will be developed:
• Internally through interaction with Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing Accounting or any other functions of repute wherever needed.
• Externally via supplier manufacturing process audits and cost analysis and collecting relevant data basis.
Accountability of development of Raw materials, Labor Rates and Process rates for India and any other counties required.
Ensuring up-to-date raw material rates for India by interacting with buyers, commodity Management, internal and external research.
– Review respectively & calibrate data from external data sources versus Siemens procurement data
Broadening the scope of new raw material rates to facilitate the existing data precision for CVE calculations & Developing machine hour and man hour rates for India by detailed calculations.
Visit suppliers (if required) and collect real time data for machines, labor etc.
Reassessing current process rates through supplier audits
Create a process to correlate and validate the accuracy and approval process of theses machine hour rate, labor rates, Raw material rates etc.
Networking and mutual support
Integrate with product-specific CVE teams in alignment with System CVE, PE, R&D , Procurement, Engineering
Foster commodity-specific CVE network and Siemens-wide knowledge exchange
Foster a “givers” mindset in Division-internal activities and contribute own expertise in cross-Divisional collaboration

 

What Competencies we are looking for:

The individual should have an advanced level of knowledge in key manufacturing processes for raw materials and key conversion processes.
They should be proficient in conducting cost estimations and analysis during bids and executions.
Additionally, the person must be an expert in data gathering, data management, and data analytics skills.
A strong understanding of commercial knowledge and costing knowledge is necessary.
This individual should also possess a high level of business acumen and demonstrate cross-cultural sensitivity.
