JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title:       Lead Engineer – EV Advance Application Simulation Center

Reports To:   Head – Powertrain Product  Line

Role Type:     Individual Contribution

Location:       Bangalore

 

Role Purpose:

The Electric Vehicle (EV) market is having a huge growth in India and global market. In this context, the India EV Advance Application Simulation & Competance Center is looking for a proactive, high-energy, Competent Engineer to support and boost the growth of SKF´s wide technical product and solution portfolio. This team is working closely with competence center – powertrain and new mobility center.

SKF is looking for the candidate (s) who is technically competent to both drive and support advance application simulations using SKF proprietary as well as third party engineering simulations tools, for EV applications including powertrain, wheel and others. The incubent is expected to support the development of new Product and Technology in close collaboration with PDE teams, AE teams, and RTD.  In this role, he/she will also be responsible to strengthen the knowledge of application and product expertise to SKF frontline community. The incubent also expected to support to flawless launches of strategic customer projects with dedicated technical risk mitigation actions. He/she will support SKF for customer discussions, Tec Days, conferences, technology conclaves and fairs to enlarge the external network.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

EV Advance Application Simulations using SKF proprietary and third-party tools focusing on Electric vehicle applications. Closely work in collaboration with all the stakeholders including application engineers, product design engineers and customers. Support front end teams for customer interactions to demonstrate SKF product benefits, comparative analysis, product technical advantages and help improve the customer’s competitiveness /system performance.

 

Lead and drive EV advance applications simulations to support front line team by using SKF proprietary tools like SIMPRO Expert, BEAST etc. to establish technical competitiveness of SKF products.
Collaborate closely with frontline team to capture VoC, inputs and application requirements.
Ensure flawless running of activities within the project portfolio and requested simulations by identifying, quantifying the risks & recommending necessary action plans to prevent field issues.
Conduct and support EV product benchmarking activities.
Connect & drive SKF network and community around the technical application portfolio; Boost frontline expertise on new products/features to support profitable growth.
Support digitalization of engineering / AASC related tasks and application know-how
Provide on-call support for specific customer activities with high complexity (eg. in problem solving task forces).
Monitor and contribute to global lessons learned to AE and PD&E community.
Provide simulation support for critical ETO projects, along with technical risk mitigation through virtual Validation campaigns.
Interface with competence center team for regular product offer/roadmap updates acc. to identified market needs.
Support to manage the portfolio of EV Products and technology related product development program focus on optimum product cost.
Support SKF for customer discussions, TechDays, conferences, technology conclaves and fairs to enlarge the external network.
Anticipate & understand the trends in new technology development especially in rotating equipment’s. Use this information to best interest of SKF & thereby give application engineering support to customers, value added products, technical services, in line with the changing Technology in collaboration with front line team.
Adaptable for taking additional responsibilities which will be assigned time to time based on business requirements.
 Profile of the job holder:

 

Orientation to virtual engineering and analytical approach is must [Modelling and Simulation].
Excellent knowledge of Automotive Application – Passenger cars, 2-wheeler, and 3-Wheeler Vehicle. EV knowledge will be plus.
Excellent knowledge of bearing, bearing applications, manufacturing will be added advantage.
Demonstrated achievements in past technical roles.
Good knowledge of bearing dedicated simulation tools like Romax, Masta, Kisssoft etc OR working knowledge of SKF SIMPRO Expert tool.
Knowledge of NVH, Friction, FEA, high speed applications etc. will be plus.
Experience in handling in problem solving and root cause analysis.
Excellent knowledge of Design, Engineering technology, technical evaluation/calculation, Technical Service, Customer Relationship function in Engineering industry.
Interest and knowledge in digitalization would be a plus.
Must be willing to travel for business purpose.

Candidate Profile: 

Bachelor of Engineering or Master of engineering (Mechanical, Automobile, or equivalent engineering).
Minimum 7 years’ experience in application or product engineering role preferably experience in bearings.
