Reports To: Manager – Product Engineering

Role Purpose:
The Product engineering Team, PV Automotive, plays a key role in establishing the SKF Purpose “Together, we re-imagine rotation for a better tomorrow – By creating intelligent and clean solutions for people and the planet.” by supporting the SKF Business Community in the management of the Technical Product Information in the Innovation Processes in the best way
Carry out all Engineering activities for design of Products within the portfolio to achieve exceptional results through – personal effectiveness, partnering with others & building customer loyalty, fulfilling their needs in an efficient & effective manner.
Profile of the Job Holder:
Experience in Tool Design/Engineering is preferable (PGD from NTTF, GTTC, CIPET are preferred).
Being an individual contributor, the position holder is an epitome of “Doing things correctly” & “Right from me”.
Highly motivated & self initiator with good communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to work within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
Ease at dealing with ambiguity in work situations. Take decisions with limited information where necessary and demonstrate confidence in own decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
Product Engineering Activities: 60%
Perform feasibility study, develop/monitor/report time plan for engineering activities.
Create/Modify 3D model & drawings (Proposal & Manufacturing) based on the Engineering & Customer requirements.
Demonstrated ability to incorporate GPS in product design (In Proposal, Manufacturing drawings, et,).
To review & manage Engineering change request.
To create Generic models of bearings and using the same to generate bearing variants.
Establish and maintain technical collaboration with the Design offices & Business Units.
To make use of the design process complying with the Group and Product Line design rules.
Is accountable for the quality of the services delivered according to the related working procedures, ensuring zero defect objectives and customer satisfaction.
Develop and maintain Risk register for project activities.
To work & manage according to the product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process established by respective Product lines.
To resolve issues related to Windchill (PDM) activities, during uploading of CAD data, adding attributes values, creation of WT parts, etc.,
To build knowledge & manage between product function and corresponding specification;
Interaction with internal & External suppliers for Reverse Engineering activities; and,
Managing project deliverables in line with the project plan.

Process Adherence: 10%
Prepare Project Proposals.
Report task status (WSR) to mentor/manager/stakeholder as per defined cycle.
Escalate bottlenecks to mentor/manager/stakeholder as and when needed.
Follow Change Management Process guidelines.
Actively participate in reviews, pulse meetings and publish minutes of meeting.
Ensure Lessons Learned, Best Practices, Risk Register are updated and re-used in future related projects.
Ensure adherence to project close out activities – Project tracker updates & Report archiving accordingly to activity & process defined; and,
Accountable for process compliance of the project.
Reviews & Reporting: 5%
Active participation in review meetings with Internal & External stakeholders.
Create and document project review comments and minutes of meetings.
Periodic Reporting of project status (schedule, cost, and Quality) to Internal / External stakeholders; and,
Ensure timely actions of the improvement database for assigned actions, originating from KPI’s, IQA, BE, Program & Executive reviews.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives: 10%
Identify & facilitate continuous improvement initiatives (Business Excellence, Quality, Project Management) to improve Process performance (KPI’s);
Identify, Define & Maintain basic elements of a Quality system, including Planning, Control and improvement through effective audit programme.
Provide regular reports on the performance of projects, process adherence & key metrics as identified.
Implement actions identified from root cause analysis for the process & product deviations and take corrective and propose preventive actions; and,
To follow management instructions and procedures to report Safety Health and Environment (SHE) risks and SHE related incidents; to follow quality specifications and requirements and identify quality risks and opportunities for improvement.
Competency Development: 5%
Conduct self-appraisal to identify competency gaps;
Show willingness and self-drive to upgrade the technical competency on regular basis;
Adhere to competency development plan drawn out in consultation with team leader;
Active participation in knowledge sharing sessions and group learning sessions;
Be updated on technologies, products and services available within the SKF organization as well as from SKF partners related to his/her areas; and,
Mentor juniors on certain competencies and contribute to their individual.
Innovation Culture: 10%
To facilitate & conduct idea jamming sessions.
Use various idea generation techniques (Brainstorming, Crowd sourcing, Gordon Techniques, etc) to generate and foster innovation culture; and,
Initiate, drive and participate in events, both internally and externally, within his area (e.g. Technical forums).
Key Skill & Knowledge Profile:
Proficient in advanced Modeling, Assembly and Detailing techniques in
Pro/Engineer WF4 / Creo 4.0.
Knowledge on Design Automation, Map keys, UDF’s, Pro-Programming, Pro-Toolkit;
Ability to develop 3D models from digitized / cloud points data.
Knowledge on form, fit & functions of a product.
Proficiency in applying GD&T / Geometric Product Specification (GPS);
Ability to perform tolerance stack up analysis.
Knowledge in handling Engineering Change Management (ECM) process.
Experience in Product Lifecycle Management related processes.
Knowledge on incorporating manufacturing process methodology in Pro/Engineer.
Proficiency in Reverse Engineering Methodologies.
Experience in Metrology & Metallurgical activities.
Knowledge in application of measurement principles for manufacturing & other process.
Knowledge on Material behavior properties (Metals. Alloys, Composites, ceramics & Plastics);
Ability to apply DFM & DFA guidelines.
Knowledge in manufacturing process capability.
Additional Skills considered as an Advantage:
Application knowledge of various product lines in SKF through SKF e-learning Modules such as Distributor college courses & Video Based Learning (VBL) Modules.
Knowledge on Bearing designations & Tolerance database (S&P).
Have good knowledge on Simulation – Working knowledge on SKF Bearing simulator
Exposure to advanced modules of Bearing simulator, can be as needed.
Usage of Interactive Engineering Catalogue (IEC);
Understanding of Quality Management System: ISO 9001 & ISO/TS 16949.
Good understanding in different six sigma tools; and,
Understanding of Project Management & its value to the business processes.
Candidate Profile:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering stream.
3-7 Years of relevant functional work experience.
