1. Manager – Production

Role Shift TL – Production Position Title Manager – Production (Shift) Department Manufacturing Level / Grade M2 Reporting To Sr. Manager – Production Reportees Direct : 3 – 5 Organisational Chart: Key Purpose of the Job (Position Summary) This position is responsible for achieving the defined production targets for the shift in terms of volume, quality and timelines at optimal cost. The role will be responsible for enhancing the overall efficiency and productivity for the assigned sub division, by undertaking various improvement initiatives. The role will also be responsible to maintaining the safety and health standards. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS • Adherence to production shift plan • % Reduction of scrap and wastage • % Reduction in rejection and rework on account of quality • Reduction in tyre weight variance as per specification • % Improvement in Operational Efficiency • % implementation of EHS policies and procedures during the shift • Reduction in unsafe conditions • % Reduction in number of accidents in the division • % Reduction in consumption of indirect material • Training Man Days • No. of improvement initiatives • Improvement in employee involvement in terms of 5S score, 3 m/c completion, etc. KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Planning & Scheduling • Plan all activities and allocation of work for the shift as per the production plan and schedule for the Division • Plan for manpower, material, tools and other resources and equipment for the Shift as required for carrying out the production as per plan Production Operations • Ensure proper implementation of the production plan and schedule for the shift and achievement of production targets • Supervise the production process for the shift to ensure productivity and efficiency targets and standards are achieved • Continuously monitor various production parameters like quantity and quality of material, machine utilization, uptime, etc. • Update the Division Manager in case of any deviations or errors in the production plan or the production parameters and take necessary corrective action in a timely manner • Ensure availability of material on the production line in coordination with the stores team • Raise requisition for material and consumables in a timely manner to ensure no disruption in production process • Coordinate with engineering departments and Technology for resolution of any technical problem such as breakdown of machinery/ equipment’s, leakage, low yields , deviation in process parameters etc. • Ensure compliance to the defined processes and standards on the production line Production Quality • Ensure all quality parameters and requirements for the product are adhered to through the production process • Ensure reduction in in-process rejections and internal rework so as to attain efficient operations and cost reduction • Continuously monitor resolution of frequent errors • Escalate repetitive errors to the Division Manager to identify a sustainable solution Efficiency & Productivity • Ensure all activities planned as a part of the improvement projects are undertaken by the team during the shift as required and completed as per standards defined • Identify areas of improvement on the production line and suggest ways to improve to the Division Manager • Ensure all activities for implementation of new systems and processes line OHSAS, ISO, SPARSH, QBM, Kaizen, etc. are completed as per plan and allocation Cost Reduction • Work towards ensuring cost savings in variable costs through innovative ideas and optimum usage of raw materials, tools and consumables • Ensure efficient handling of the material and overall reduction in wastage • Monitor consumption of indirect material and implement ways to reduce the same MIS and Reporting • Record and report all production expenditure incurred during the shift • Ensure SAP is updated regularly and accurately • Prepare and maintain all production MIS for the Shift as per the defined formats and timelines • Ensure preparation of any other report as and when required Health and Safety • Ensure safety measures are consistently and strictly followed by all during the shift and take initiative to enhance acceptance of safety as a culture so as to achieve zero accident level. • Report any incident to the GM – Production immediately Team Management • Manage performance of the team during the shift to ensure optimum utilization of manpower • Review operator performance and ensure it meets set standards • Coach, counsel and provide guidance to team members • Discuss with management to resolve operator problems, complaints or grievances if any • Maintain a high standard of employee morale and engagement in the shift through constant communication and constructive and cooperative relationships with team, union members, contract staff • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency etc. • Enhance team capability by identifying training needs for permanent and contract employees • Arrange conduct of employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures Education and Experience Required Education: Mechanical Engineer Experience: 8-9 years experience in Productio

2. Assistant Manager – Production

KEY ACTIVITIES  & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations

  • Implement work schedules, assignments and production sequences for the operators by machine as per shift plan
  • Provide inputs to the Production Manager regarding the manpower numbers for operators, contract employees, temporary employees and labourers as required to enable planning of resources and work schedules
  • Assess resource requirements to ensure continuous production flow
  • Supervise the overall production to ensure that the production schedule is adhered to during the shift
  • Monitor and resolve any issues / conflicts regarding work allocation
  • Maintain and monitor daily hours booking in the log books
  • Continuously monitor various production parameters like quantity and quality of output, machine utilization, uptime, etc. & update Planning / Purchase/ Maintenance in case of any errors or deviations
  • Ensue that shift wise production targets are met and provide inputs to the Production manager and Planning for the next shift targets
  • Maintain and monitor the in-process materials inventory and ensure material safety and security for the shift
Production Quality

Safety Health and Environment

  • Ensure safety measures are necessarily followed and take initiative to enhance acceptance of safety by conducting safety meetings in departments with production head for achieving zero accident level and promote workplace safety
  • Ensure all workmen are adequately trained with respect to EHS
  • Communicate to the team on good housekeeping practices and also ensure hygiene & cleanliness at shop floor in line with company policies
Interaction with Other Department

  • Coordinate with Quality and Engineering team for resolving issues related to operational efficiency and quality

This position is responsible for testing Tyres to the limits at different proving grounds in India as well as abroad. This position demands high willingness to travel domestic & international.
Key Requirements –

  • Ability to give product development direction and decision for product release w.r.t. Ride and Handling by test driving cars/SUVs from customer driving and limit driving scenarios.
  • Ability to differentiate and theorize discerning vehicle RH behavior for achieving set target.
  • Correlation of subjective ‘feel’ with objective ‘data’ and formation of performance metrics.

  • Lead the implementation of ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 14001:2015 and also review the same for re-certification
  • Liaison with concerned statutory bodies and government authorities on issues related to Environment and Safety relevant to the company
  • Build and institutionalize a structured reporting system to ensure all EHS related activities, incidents and accidents across locations are reported

Key Purpose of the Job (Position Summary)

This position is responsible to ensure effective up keep and maintenance of all electrical and instrumentation equipment in a defined area of the plant to ensure maximum equipment availability and minimum downtime. The position will supervise a team to get assigned maintenance activities including predictive and preventive maintenance done within the defined budget.

  • Reduction in cost of maintenance (Stores, spares and repair maintenance cost)

  • Improvement initiatives (SPARSH Machine, QIP’s, Kaizan, Hira etc.)
  • Compliance as per statutory standards for electrical installations and weights & measures
KEY ACTIVITIES  & RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and Scheduling

  • Plan electrical maintenance schedule (Preventive and Predictive) in consultation with the Head Electrical and relevant production managers
  • Lead initiatives for cost control, machine improvement and increase in uptime
  • Plan for efficient maintenance and working of all power outlets and surge protectors, generators and lighting systems in defined area
  • Plan electrical maintenance schedule based on annual shutdown plan
Operational

  • Ensure completion of electrical maintenance jobs with the highest level of safety, quality and effectiveness at minimum cost, to maximize equipment availability
  • Be responsible for the execution and the quality of maintenance work to be carried out on electrical equipment according to planned work orders
  • Ensure proper day-to-day scheduling of works and necessary resources. Assign and review work to perform
  • Coordinate where required with other departments to ensure timely completion of maintenance activities
  • Ensure, upon completion of repairs, that equipment is in good operating condition, ready to meet operational requirements, fully inspected, tested, clean and safe
  • Attend or Supervise major / critical breakdown of machine
  • Carry out regular inspection of equipment to ascertain machine reliability
  • Ensure proper distribution of work within team
  • Ensure preventive maintenance practices are followed in defined area and coordinate with Production to ensure this
  • Control maintenance inventory and ensure that adequate stock is available as per requirements for the team
  • Review the requests for materials from team, define the technical specifications for purchase

 

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure safety measures are necessarily followed by the team and take initiative to enhance acceptance of safety
  • Ensure effectiveness of RCA reports in case of accidents
  • Ensure all team members are adequately trained with respect to EHS
  • Ensure compliance to the norms under ISO, OHSAS and any other standards as applicable from time to time
  • Ensure all required documentation and certifications are in order in compliance with various norms
  • Participate in internal and external audits and provide the required support
Cost Management

  • Maintain and control maintenance cost within budget with regards to maintenance and cost of spares
  • Reduce maintenance costs by initiating cost saving measured through innovative ideas and optimum usage of energy and consumable maintenance spares
Documentation, MIS, Review & Analysis

  • Ensure that records of all maintenance work carried out are maintained
  • Ensure that all operating & training manuals are updated as required
  • Ensure SAP is updated regularly and accurately by the team
  • Review log books and all the maintenance activities performed
  • Review inventory of spare parts and consumables
  • Review stores / spares consumption analysis sheet and take corrective action if required
  • Conduct daily power consumption analysis and ascertain trends to enable control on costs
  • Conduct breakdown analysis and prepare gap analysis report for breakdowns
  • Prepare and Review compliance reports
  • Prepare Scrap analysis reports and reduction suggestions, for scrap that has occurred due to electrical issues
  • Prepare and Review PM Effectiveness reports and scorecard
Team & Relationship Management

  • Guide and manage the electrical maintenance team to ensure the department’s objectives are met
  • Ensure electrical maintenance team is adequately trained and proactively work  with HR at capability enhancement of team
  • Conduct effective performance appraisals for the team and provide regular feedback
  • Motivate, counsel and coach employees to ensure a conducive working environment
Improvement Projects

  • Provide inputs and encourage team to work on improvement projects like Kaizen, QIP, 5S, Bol Bindaas, SPARSH, HIRA etc
Education and Experience Required
Education:
Diploma / Electrical Engineer (graduate)
Electrical License holder
Experience:
10 to 12  years

Key Purpose of the Job (Position Summary)
This position is responsible to ensure effective up keep and maintenance of all machinery at the plant to ensure maximum machine availability and minimum downtime on account of breakdown. The role incumbent shall lead a team of Mechanical engineers to ensure all mechanical maintenance jobs at the plant are completed as per schedule and within the defined budget.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
  • Adherence to maintenance schedule and maintenance budget
  • Reduction in repetitive breakdown occurrences (Hours and Instances)
  • Reduction in cost of maintenance (Stores, spares and repair maintenance cost)

KEY ACTIVITIES  & RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning & Budgeting
  • Plan the annual maintenance schedule and activities for the mechanical section in consultation with Chief Engineer
  • Participate in preparation of the annual maintenance budget by providing inputs for the mechanical section.
  • Participate in planning any major capex investments at the plant such as machine and equipment replacement, major repairs to machinery, etc.
  • Provide inputs for the procurement plan for mechanical sections covering requirement for consumables, spare parts, maintenance supplies and tools

Maintenance Operations

Planned Maintenance

  • Work with the team to schedule and prioritize maintenance activities to ensure optimum utilization of resources and minimum disturbance to production activities
  • Manage and supervise all the maintenance activities undertaken by the mechanical team to ensure the same are as per the maintenance schedule and budget
  • Work closely with other department in charges to ensure maintenance schedules are adhered to without disruption of production targets
  • Prepare schedule for maintenance activities during shutdown and ensure proper execution of the same as per shutdown schedule
  • For equipment covered under AMCs, ensure regular maintenance is done by the vendor in accordance to the terms and conditions agreed in the AMC

Breakdown Maintenance

  • Prioritize breakdown repair jobs as per criticality to the production process
  • Ensure the team provides timely and effective break down maintenance support for any of the mechanical systems at the plant
  • Review any major breakdowns in machinery and equipment to assess the scope of repair work required, cost for the repairs and other resources required.
  • Oversee any major breakdown repair work to validate the quality of the work done and ensure minimum repetition of similar incidents
  • Provide technical guidance where required especially for complex repairs
  • Ensure that the team prepares SOPs for any break down repairs and maintenance for reference in future occurrences

Procurement

  • Regularly monitor availability of spares and work with the team to ensure optimum inventory of spares for the section
  • For any new spares or material prepare technical specification and provide same to procurement team post approval from Chief Engineer
  • Work with the procurement team in evaluating vendors and shortlisting
  • Review and validate technical terms and conditions of agreements with vendors

Others

  • Ensure the team adheres to the company’s maintenance standards, norms and laid down policies
  • Resolve any coordination issues the team may face with other departments to ensure work at the plant does not get hampered

Cost Management

  • Monitor maintenance expenditure to ensure compliance to the budget
  • Monitor consumption of all consumables and spares in the section
  • Ensure all maintenance jobs done by the team are undertaken with optimum use of resources and minimum wastage
  • Identify areas for cost saving and recommend action plan to achieve the saving

Projects

  • Ensure all maintenance related jobs for any major plant wide improvement projects / capex projects are completed in time – such as new machine installation, replacement, etc.
  • Identify improvement projects that may be needed to improve machine performance and contribute to better product quality
  • Contribute to successful completion of any capex projects
  • Establish protocols for trial runs, start up in case of new machinery, etc.

MIS & Reporting

  • Ensure records of all service, maintenance and refurbishing works carried out in mechanical section are maintained
  • Ensure SAP updated regularly and accurately with data and information regarding maintenance
  • Ensure machine history records are  properly maintained
  • Regularly review  and analyse maintenance costs and machine performance records to initiate appropriate actions
  • Prepare any report as and when required related to domain

Health & Safety

  • Ensure all maintenance activities in the section are carried out in complete adherence of the safety, health and environmental policies and procedures for the Plant.
  • Ensure safety measures are consistently followed and take initiative to enhance acceptance of safety as a culture so as to achieve zero accident level
  • Train employees on correct methods of handling the machinery and equipment so as to reduce accidents
  • Report any incident to the GM – Engineering immediately

People Management

  • Guide and manage the team to ensure the department’s objectives are met
  • Ensure that team is adequately trained and proactively work with HR at capability enhancement of team
  • Conduct effective performance appraisals for the team and provide regular feedback

10. Manager – Indirect Taxation

Strategic
  • Devise strategies for Tax planning and ensure effective implementation of standard processes related to indirect taxes across all locations at CEAT
  • Keep abreast with updates and changes in the laws related to Indirect taxes, understand their implications and provide inputs for effective decision making/ compliance
  • To identify potential opportunities to take advantage of tax exemptions and benefits available
  • Advise the business groups on implication of indirect taxes, to ensure compliance with tax laws
  • Vet proposals/ bids/ agreements from indirect tax point of view and provide inputs to ensure compliance

Taxation and Filing of returns

  • Ensure that there are no deviations from the standardized processes as determined by the taxation team and all transactions are executed with highest level of accuracy.
  • Ensure 100% checking of all GST payment returns and MIS.
  • Ensure timely filing of returns for all states.
  • Establish and implement effective documentation system for maintaining papers related to litigation and ensure that the documents are easily retrievable.
  • Ensure timely and accurate updating of SAP with regards to all matters pertaining to indirect taxation
  • To ensure that all documents pertaining to taxation are filed in a secure manner and are easily retrievable

Audit and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all the necessary statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Audit indirect tax compliance at plants and offices
  • Respond to queries raised by statutory departments related to indirect taxation or any other cess in an appropriate and timely manner

Litigation Management

  • Ensure timely action is taken on appeals, and pursues effective resolution, compilation and spread work for the same

  • Liaise with lawyers and coordinate to ensure CEAT is appropriately represented before statutory bodies and courts
  • To represent organization from taxation perspective at tribunals; arbitrations and courts
  • To handle litigation including drafting of replies/ appeals on critical matters
  • Support regional offices and Outsourced units in solving issues and dealing with litigations or disputes in relation to indirect taxation
